Annie Stroupe is a North Carolina-based piano teacher who recognizes that everyone is unique, and is committed to providing quality, individualized teaching to beginner and intermediate piano students of all ages and all learning styles.  Annie earned an Associate of Fine Arts in Music at Sandhills Community College studying piano under Dr. Kristina Henckel, and is currently working towards a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro under the instruction of Dr. Annie Jeng.  Prior to her college studies, she served as a church accompanist for several years, both for her church’s Youth Praise Team and as a substitute for the primary praise team.  Additionally, Annie spent several months working at a summer camp playing guitar in the worship band, and she has studied guitar, voice, and piano at the college level.

Annie’s experience across a variety of musical instruments, styles, and environments has produced a strong desire to teach her students about much more than just notes and rhythms.  She is passionate about incorporating topics such as music theory, aural skills, and music history into her piano teaching, and even finds it important to discuss strategies for addressing the many mental challenges that come with being a musician and performer.  Additionally, Annie understands that every student is different, with a different learning style, different strengths to be brought out, and different weaknesses to overcome.  Because of this, she is committed to getting to know each student as an individual, and then working as long as it takes to find the teaching method that works best for them.  As Johann Sebastian Bach once said, “The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of soul.”  It is Annie’s goal to help all of her students learn to understand and produce such soul-refreshing music through playing the piano.
